NYFC offers counseling with low fees and unbeatable quality.
As a non-profit, we are unique and fortunate because our staff consists of more than a dozen Licensed Professionals, some of which have decades of experience. All NYFC therapists bring with them solid backgrounds in mental health and unquestionable ethics.
Individual Therapy:
Counseling is available for individuals of nearly any age to provide assistance with a wide range of struggles: problems at school or work; relationship issues; grief; divorce recovery; family-of-origin issues; depression; physical, emotional and sexual abuse; anxiety; post traumatic stress disorder, bi-polar disorder; issues related to self esteem; stress management and more.
Family Therapy:
Families come to NYFC for assistance with a variety of family issues, such as blended families; adjusting to life events; single parenting; grand parenting; divorce; abuse; and communication.
Marital Therapy
For couples experiencing conflicts over child-rearing, money, intimacy, infidelity, stage of life issues and other common relationship struggles.
Play Therapy:
Our specialists help young children overcome or learn to manage issues involving impulse control; bedwetting; ADHD/ADD; divorce; school behavior problems; conflicts with authority figures; anger; sexual and physical abuse; and self-esteem.
Grief Counseling:
Many of NYFC's clients utilize our counseling services after the loss of a loved one. NYFC's contract counselors understand that everyone grieves in a unique way. They also realize someone grieving after the natural, anticipated death of a loved one will likely experience different reactions to that loss than a person who is grieving due to losing a loved one to homicide, suicide or another traumatic event.
Group Therapy:
NYFC offers psychoeducational groups for female survivors of family violence and for people grieving the loss of a loved one. English and Spanish available. Please call to learn more about current or upcoming group schedules.
Assessments:
On a limited basis, NYFC counselors can provide drug testing and drug assessments for adolescents, as well as assessments for NYFC's First Offender Program for juveniles and their families
Bilingual/Bicultural Services:
Counseling services are available in Spanish. Our counseling staff includes therapists who are educated about various cultures and experienced working with individuals and families from a variety of cultures and countries of origin. Our full-time therapist, whose position is funded by a grant through the Office of the Attorney General of Texas, focuses on providing counseling to immigrant victims of violent crime in the Richardson community.
