WELCOME
Neighborhood Youth and Family Counseling has been serving the Richardson community for 30 years. In 1977, a group of concerned community members formed the agency to offer professional counseling to adolescents and their families and a Juvenile First Offenders Program, which included community service. The organization incorporated in 1979 and earned its 501(c)3 status in 1981.
Originally, the organization went by the name "Neighborhood Youth Services." The agency expanded through the years to accommodate other needs from the Richardson community and established new programs to fulfill these needs. NYFC developed a Victims' Assistance Program to provide crisis intervention, professional therapy and victim advocacy to victims of crime and other traumatic events. NYFC also cultivated its Community Counseling Program to include a contract counseling staff of more than a dozen licensed professionals with a wide range of expertise. Several years ago, as a result of the enhanced services, NYS underwent a name change and became Neighborhood Youth and Family Counseling. NYFC provides a multitude of services to the community, and you can learn more about these services by visiting the other pages on our website.
Most of our programs involve a contract with the City of Richardson and a collaborative working relationship with the Richardson Police Department and the Richardson Municipal Court. We receive referrals from the RISD, Richardson Courts, Police and Fire Departments, churches, hospitals, and other local agencies. However, a formal referral is not required. If you are interested in NYFC's counseling services, you can email us or call for more information.
